Engine Officer of the watch (EOOW) COC Course

  • Applicants must have a minimum 24 months’ sea service (including 6 months’ engine room watch keeping duties in the last 12 months) whilst holding a STCW III/4 Watch Rating Certificate
  • Candidates must complete an MNTB Training Record Book to the required standard which is issued to them only by the college.
  • Candidates will then return to the academy for tutorials, IAMI Written Exams and MCA Oral Examination to gain initial EOOW certificate.

  • INR 30000 as a deposit which fees will be later adjusted with your college fees or Visa fees.
  • Now the applicant will undertake a minimum of 9 months of sea time whilst completing the MNTB Training Record Book on board the ship. This is an absolute minimum requirement.
  • The overall total sea service (after STCW III / 4 watch rating certificate) must not be less than 30 months, of which at least 6 months of the last 12 months served must be as first assistant to the Engineer Officer of the Watch.

  • Total sea service required would be a minimum of 33 months to be eligible to apply for a Notice of Eligibility (NOE) and there after sit for your MCA oral exams.
  • Both signing on and signing off dates are counted. Sea service may be performed on a vessel of any flag. Sea service documented on other CDC's for e.g. Panama, Bahamas, Liberia, Belize, etc. are also considered acceptable.
  • The testimonial given to you by your Chief Engineer must have your sign on date, sign off date, rank, and nature of duties, propelling days / steaming days as well as details of main engine, auxiliary engine and boiler details mentioned on it.
  • If the propelling days are not mentioned, your sea service on that ship would not be counted. In such a situation, you can ask your shipping company to give the propelling days’ information for that particular ship on their company letterhead and have it signed by the engine superintendent.

If you wish to Apply for NOE Prior to College enrolment, we charge Initial deposit of INR 30000 which will later be adjusted with your college fees or Visa fees
  • NOE is Mandatory in order to appear for orals in UK. You can either apply the same before or after you go to UK
  • It would be advisable to do your NOE before booking your course. If you doubt that some of your sea time may not be counted by the MCA for what so ever reasons (for e.g. missing documents, no stamps on the CDC, company did not give sea service letter, sailed on Gulf ships, etc.).
  • If your documents are found to be forged all your documents will be seized and you will not be allowed to sit for exams in the UK again.
  • NOE is valid for 5 years & if used for orals then it is valid for 3 years since the issue date.
